Abstract

The results of a study of hydroacoustic processes stimulated in a volume of distilled water by powerful microsecond pulses of Yb,Er:Glass laser radiation delivered through optical fibers with two different shapes of the output end are presented. A comparison of the volume of the steam-gas cavity formed in the liquid and the pressure drops that occur at the moment of the laser pulse action and in the “collapse-rebound” phase of the vapor-gas cavity is presented. The results obtained are useful for the development of technologies for laser endosurgical interventions that require effective destruction of pathological biological tissues, for example, laser cataract extraction.
